Welcome to the MarriageMate site of Les Carter, Ph. D., a nationally recognized psychotherapist, author, and lecturer. His aim is simple. He wants to provide you with thought provoking information so you can attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle in your primary relationship.
Born in 1954, Dr. Les Carter spent the better part of his childhood in suburban Atlanta, Georgia with early stops in Germany, Kansas, and Texas. From his earliest years he had a keen interest in people issues, so when he went to college it was only natural for him to select Psychology as his major. A 1976 graduate from Baylor University, he went on to earn his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in counseling from North Texas State University in 1980. In 1990, Baylor University honored him with the Outstanding Young Alumnus award.
In February 1980 he joined the staff of the Minirth-Meier Clinic in Richardson, Texas where he maintained an active practice for 25 years. Those years with Dr.’s Minirth and Meier opened the door for many opportunities with writing and radio broadcasts on the nationally syndicated Minirth-Meier Clinic radio talk show. He is the author of twenty books, the most recent being The Anger Trap and Enough About You, Let’s Talk About Me. His books have sold into the millions and have been translated into many languages.
Since 2005, Dr. Carter has continued his counseling practice at the Southlake Psychiatric and Counseling Center in Southlake, Texas. He is known for his emphasis on anger management and conflict resolution skills.
Perhaps his greatest gift is in communicating about life skills in a manner that is both stimulating to the mind while practical in orientation.
